NHA Meeting Minutes
Special guest - State Rep. Joe Mullery
Robert Johnson and Robert Suranyi worked on analyzing and comparing the housing data from MPHA to crime data from the City and came up with startling numbers. Robert Suranyi provided the data as graphs which made for startling visuals. The most amazing is that the Folwell Neighborhood has a 43% Section 8 to rental ratio, the city average is under 5%.
There is more shocking data on relationship between crime and rental housing versus property ownership and crime. Of course poverty to crime in the numbers. The data is also showing a correlaton between public housing and crime. The higher the home ownership rate in a community, the less there is crime.
This data is available by emailing northsidehomeowners@gmail.com, we will also have it on hand at our March 10th meeting.
Rep. Mullery discussed the legislation he is proposing that would establish a state registry of multiple property holding landlords.
